OK, problem appears to be mine... The \converter line is different from my lyxrc.defaults which was there in the prior version. The one now there said "\convert literate latex "none" ... and the old one said \converter literate latex "noweave -delay -index $$i > $$o" "" Doing the manual replace fixes the problem till the next reconfigure. Looks like I have a "PATH" error. noweave is in my ~/bin which is on the path for command line but evidently not for the core GUI stuff.
