 I did. :-)
 Also Chris Karakas has a site http://www.karakas-online.de/mySGML/
 that transforms the output from lyx, and at a certain point it uses
db2latex. I have contacted Chris and our objective is to integrate all the
features of his scripts into lyx.

  You are right. My problem with the standard paragraph is that in latex the
standard paragraph has two distinct goals:
  1) act as <para>...</para>
  2) allow the addition of latex commands.
  
  Probably we should make the same decision, and if the standard paragraph
only has tables on figures in the them then don't output.. <para></para>
