If you insert a Child Document you get a grey box telling you the insert type and the document name, e. g. Input: abc.lyx. If you then edit near this grey box to insert e. g. a page break, the grey box vanishes and is replaced by an empty.tiny box. Only after closing the document and opening again you'll see the grey box again. -- Hartmut
