No bit is incorrect. Really. For a change :)
Both passages seem to be correct. Why is it that people insist on assuming 
that things don't work (or are wrong), when in fact -- they are correct and 
do work :) Feel free to consider it as praise for lyx ;).

I don't know about Polish keymaps, I just use whatever KDE's keyboard map 
utility provides for me, so I've never tested a Polish keymap  --  assuming 
it's an X keymap you're talking about. Anyway, I've never had any need to 
change keymaps specifically in/for lyx, it "just works" out of the box. Maybe 
I'm too lucky :)

Basically, if I do
$ LANG=pl_PL lyx
it starts up with polish menus, opens polish help files, etc. The only gotcha 
is that the default document language is still English, which may or may not 
make too much sense (said so in order to avoid a flame war :). Probably it 
could be made into a configuration option -- a simple checkbox "Use user 
interface language as default document language".

That's about all that I have to say on the subject, I admit. When things work, 
they... just work :)
