Fixed (along with other broken links), many thanks. The scipy folks reorganized their site a while ago, and I hadn't noticed these links broke. > I found the link that started the first thread quite interesting: > http://dkbza.org/tmPython.html > > I advise other LyX fellows to take a look to it. Indeed, it looks very interesting. I've heard that texmacs is somewhat unresponsive though, and I _really_ like lyx's overall design and capabilities. So having this kind of environment based on lyx would be fantastic. One thing which I feel would be necessary, would be to somehow strengthen lyx's abilities for code editing (syntax highlighting, auto-indenting, etc). That's one of the weak areas of Mathematica's notebook interface: while it's great to have text, code and plots in one window, it _sucks_ for complicated coding. I typically end up writing the more complex code in Xemacs as a .m file, and then pulling it into a notebook via <<file.m. But this is a clunky setup, which defeats some of the power of such an environment. I know this is NOT easy, but just something to keep in mind. > True, but still a feature with lots of potential for users. I believe so. At least I'll do the work on the ipython side to make things possible. I'll stop by again (several months at least) when this is done, or sign up on the ipython lists so you can pitch in as well :) Many thanks for the hospitality on the list. Best to all, f ps. from your wavelets comment I assume you were present at scipy'03, right? Are you coming to '04? If so, let me know and we can hook up at some point.
