I'll try Openjade directly (thus eliminating the need for sgmltools-lite altogether) 
and I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Yes please. With the understanding that it is just a temporary solution on the way to 
a more satisfactory one.

I'll try your suggestions for LyX 1.4 from the CVS. But not before middle of next week 
- those parties, you know... ;-)
