Subject: Meeting 2004 - Chemnitz again, August 12-16
So this is the (hopefully...) long awaited official announcement.
This year's LyX developer meeting will
be held in Chemnitz, Saxony, Germany, Old Europe,
around August 14.
For ordinary people this translates to Thursday (12th) to Tuesday
(17th), "business men" are required to make their appearance at least on
Saturday or Sunday.
Originally I wanted to delay this announcement until I hold a signed
contract for the club in my hands, unfortunately I have not been able
to contact the right person during the last few weeks due to mutually
exclusive timetables.
However, I've been told that "it's in the Book" and we all know that
this is sufficient. For those of weaker faith: I think we've got
enough of fall backs in place to have a decent meeting even if something
goes awfully wrong with the club.
As usual, it would be nice if people tried to bring a notebook if
possible - and tell me in advance if they do.
Apart from the club problem we'll face an accommodation problem: I don't
thing we'd get enough sleep in the same place as last year but I am
confident we'll find a solution till August. In any case bringing a
sleeping bag might help, even if we have one or two to spare for people
notoriously travelling without luggage.
Lars: You do not need to bring all your jumpers again. Most notably,
the yellow one is already here.
I won't go around and specifically invite individual people. As a
rule of thumb: If your name is in lib/CREDITS, you are in for the usual
"almost all inclusive" package (including food and beer, but excluding
travel expenses to and from Chemnitz), otherwise you are welcome, too,
but might have to care for a few more things yourself.
