OK. This is why I said what I said, you seemed to be saying no
physicists needed Word for their papers, submissions etc.

I know several physicist friends who have to use Word. Indeed, they have
been told any attempt to even submit a *thesis* in any other format
would be rejected a priori.

That's fine. But you should, and cannot, discount the reality of the
huge number of potential LyX users who are forced into the realities of
Word.
