Huang Ying <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> is working on a gtkmm2 frontend, which has a functional workarea (main window) and a few working dialogs until now (the matrix on http://www.devel.lyx.org/guii.php3 is quite up to date). Most of the stuff (except the most recent patch) is in cvs. You can compile it --with-frontend=gtk. Perhaps you should try to contact Huang Ling in private. I'm not sure he is subscribed to the list.
