Could we try to reach an agreement that developers do not install there
personal pets in the source, especially if it is neither existing
practice in LyX nor considered "best practice" in the outside
world nor accepted Guru practice?

There are a few people trying to make LyX source easy to understand and
fast to compile. And every once in a while a torpedo hits the leaky
ship...

To be honest, I currently feel sick. And that's not because I haven't
had breakfast - I usually don't eat in the morning during the week.
