I agree... this would be well past 1.4.

I'm just playing around to get an idea of how it would work and what
the requirements would be.  This is good to keep in mind during the
cleanup work, so we know where the infrastructure should go to ;-)

FYI InsetERT inlined mode functions again as it was meant to  -- thanks
to this patch! I am tempted to commit that part of the patch that
gives (more) realistic metrics to LyXText, without the experimental
branchinset inlined stuff that was more a proof-of-principle and is
buggy buggy buggy.

What would you think of that?
