Holy cow, as they say. I guess if the nipple wasn't too large you could have put a lot of chewed chewing gum into the hole, then some tape over it and go to bed, assuming your meter is on the low-pressure side. It's only a couple of inches of water pressure in low-pressure gas installations IIRC. In most cases, you can plug the leak with your finger/palm of the head and easily hold it there. Again, as long as it was low pressure. To cheer you up, after spending (read: wasting) 600 USD on car repairs (including "used car inspection" at the dealer just before getting the car), and having to fix it again (with other stuff that broke due to one bolt unbolting itself) 5 months later myself, I'm not letting anybody but myself repair my car. I guess you could get certified for gas safety checks -- hopefully it's not too bureaucratic in the country where you live. Cheers, Kuba
