Is there any special reason why we still use old obsoleted font packages? - times has been superceeded by mathptmx (former mathptm) - palatino has been superceeded by mathpazo (former mathpple)
(see psnfss documentation) Also, we should remove support for pslatex and ae, since they are really bad quality and we should not encourage users to use them. In the meantime, there are enough good type-1 fonts available (cm-super and lmodern for those who want cm postscript fonts). Also, we could add support for those fonts from psnfss: - chancery - charter and the new latin modern (lmodern) font family. Juergen.
