I think we've ascertained that this was a red herring. My point is that the LyX binary that I'm running remotely is running on a system (Debian unstable) that uses fontconfig and who's Qt is xft-aware. However, I'm displaying it on a machine that does not use fontconfig, knows nothing about xft but which does have the necessary pfb fonts in its font path. These are not used and I don't understand why. Any further insights? -- Angus
