There is a nice problem with LyX on Qt/Mac, also. In their infinite
wisdom, the Qt/Mac coders decided that it would be a good idea to find
all the items in menus that look like "Preferences", "Settings",
"About LyX", remove them from their respective menus and put them in
the application menu.

Besides the fact that it is really bad taste (you cannot disable this
behaviour (except by recompiling qt/mac)), it completely breaks down
with LyX. For example, if one wants to access preference, the right
thing to do is to Open the Edit menu, close it, and then go to the
"LyX" menu.

In fairness to Trolltech, it is "standard" behavior in Mac Aqua applications for the Preferences and About menus to appear under the application menu. I think the Trolltech QT/MacOSX libraries are just trying to stick to that look & feel.
