after finishing my PhD and making the final presentation, I can spend a bit more time on the LyX project, in particular on testing and writing bug reports. Is there already a release schedule for the next version? Does it make sense to flood bugzilla with reports at this stage of development or should I wait for another few weeks/months?
Ok, I would also like to take the opportunity to draw your attention to an old feature proposal. Writing my PhD with LyX was a great pleasure expect for two things: The cursor positioning and redraw problems (which will hopefully be fixed in the next release) and the weaknesses of the search+replace dialog. The latter must definitely be improved! No veto accepted! :-) Can you imagine what it means to fix inconsistencies between "emph", "textsc", and "textbf" during the final editing process? I got crazy. I had to switch between the LyX GUI and the plain (ASCII) LyX document all the time. Even worse, the LyX file format is not suitable for manual editing. Being able to search for emphasized text etc. would be a BIG step towards a comfortable text processor. If this is not possible, at least the file format should be changed to make it a bit more XML-like.
Have a nice weekend, Michael
