Sounds like a great idea to me, but I hate those things - I also hate having to click on that window saying that there were errors. This "you have error" window could then have a button for opening the log window. Actually, that window can be made a bit more useful by giving it buttons for "first error", "next error", "previous error" and "show latex log". Maybe a start would be to give the "view latex log" window the doubly-linked functionality? Then it's just a matter of adding "next error" and "previous error" buttons to the latex log... I can also think of other reasons why double-linking the log window would be nice, such as the ability to get near to places where you get warning messages. I'm guessing that it's only adding the buttons that's easy here... looking at the log, I have no idea how lyx get the error insets close to the actual errors.
