Hi, I have wondered if the aiksaurus is a long-term solution for the need of a thesaurus in a document processor, because it seems to support only the English language.
Recently a GPL solution has become available that seems to be extensible. OpenOffice-1.0.2 supports German and English thesauri. See http://thesaurus.kdenews.org/faq.php#register and http://de.openoffice.org/spellcheck/about-spellcheck.html#thesaurus Obviously the hardest part of a thesaurus is the content, so it might be worthwhile to grab the code from that project and adapt it to lyx.
