While doing something else, I looked in the directory
lyx/share/examples
and there are quite a few files there now.
Although this doesn't seem very important, I suspect newbies have a
hard time with all the files in the examples directory.
How about introducing some kind of structure here? Here's an incomplete
example of how it could look (if this makes sense I can work more on it)

I've also appended the output of 'tree' at the end of this post.
