I saw similar behaviour with Solaris 2.6 and gcc-2.95.2 when compiling the previous version of Lyx (it is in lyx-bugzilla somewhere). I am afraid that Lyx seems to have gone rather gnu-centric and you can no longer use the native assembler. I installed gas (the gnu assembler) and this solved my similar problem.
