* reLyX is written in perl but is probably going to be replaced by tex2lyx, written in C++. * lyx2lyx is written in python and is maintained. * ExternalInset uses python. * configure is a shell script. * The graphics converter and preview loader generate shell scripts. I would conclude: 1. Nobody here has any appetite for perl. 2. lyx will require bash or sh even under Windows. 3. python is also used by LyX. 4. no other script languages should be considered seriously within LyX.
