And another issue: Lyx may know that the buffer didn't change
since the last save, but it _cannot_ know wheter something
else messed with the disk file in between.

I occationally have to press <space><backspace> in emacs
so it will let me save.  Not all filesystems let you know
the file was changed, or the changing program reset the
access times or some such. . .
