Yes. But I want to avoid this. Using X raw will probably complicate
things and we ay lose out on special internal handling Qt can do.

Actually it's not that bad. I suspect Kornel's problem to be
fundamentally a simple one. Things look more complicated because I get
so confused but really our code is quite simple
