Have you tested what happens when the search succeeds inside an inset,
outside etc. ?

cvs log and cvs annotate aren't very helpful. I think I had something to
do with it but I forget the problem ...

Anyway, it's not critical and I don't think now is the time to change
this. Consider  resubmitting during 1.4
