Hi,

Apologies (in advance) if this has already been addressed previously...

I would like to build a port for FreeBSD around the CVS version of Lyx 1.3, to
test the Qt frontend. I would also like to build a Gentoo Linux ebuild for
the same. In fact, most Gentoo users live on the bleeding edge, and would
probably be a good source of testing for Lyx 1.3 series before it gets
shipped.

However I don't want to dep on the CVS package for users who don't have or
want it on their systems. It would be massively convenient if my ebuild
could grab a nightly CVS snapshot from your site for these users to test.

For your end of this, I think it would take out the load on your CVS server
for people who just want to test and don't do checkins, thus also making
testing a little easier for most people. All you need to do is get some
script to package up a nightly CVS checkout and link it in somewhere.

FYI, most of the users on the Gentoo side are gcc 3.2.x and glibc 2.3.x, and
are rapidly flying over to the qt 3.1/kde 3.1 releases. Most FreeBSD users
are on gcc 2.95.xx and bsd libc, except for those who have been testing
FreeBSD 5.0. Roughly estimated, FreeBSD users are more conservative, most
will still be on FreeBSD 4.7/qt 3.05/kde 3.05 on the day that kde 3.1 gets
officially released.

Please CC: me as I am not subscribed to the list.

TIA,
