Dear list, Mozilla 1.2 just came out. I found something interesting at the top of the release announcements page:
http://www.mozilla.org/releases/ ----------8<------------8<----------- Please use Talkback builds whenever possible. Talkback enabled builds allow transmission of crash data back to Netscape, improved crash analysis, and posting of crash related information to our crash-data newsgroup. Unless otherwise indicated, all installer builds contain talkback. If you're using an installer build but do not wish to install talkback, choose 'custom install' and uncheck the talkback component. ----------8<------------8<----------- Now wouldn't that be a cool feature for the CVS versions of LyX??? Plenty of people would endorse backtraces being sent to the LyX devel list but don't ordinarily contribute or know how to use gdb very well *sheepish*grin* =) Perhaps a dedicated mailing list could be constructed with an auto-diff that checks the essential features of crashes and makes similar crashes into replies in the same thread as existing ones. There are plenty of possibilities, maybe it's even enough for a separate project to create a crash dump library for GPLed projects. The Mozilla source might be a good place to start... Have fun, Darren
