I finally installed acompiler that allows me to run the qt port. It
looks nice...

A few remarks:

- [slightly OT]: I am on a non-kde system and use qt 2.3.0. How can I
configure it to use something else than the ugly motif look?

- If I open the document layout dialog, I get
QComboBox::setCurrentItem: (lspacingCO) Index 4 out of range
on the console and the dialog has a minimum width of 80% of my
   screen. That can't be right...

- my X server is not a xfree incarnation (rather plain x11r6.x) and
the fonts look horribly scaled. Is there a way to get unscaled
  bitmap fonts?

John, can you tell me what are the pending menu code problems for the
qt port?

JMarc
