this should be upgraded... (I seem to have forgotten what we used to
suggest...), 1.4.3 perhaps, or some 1.5 version.
I have switched to
autoconf --version
autoconf (GNU Autoconf) 2.53
automake --version
automake (GNU automake) 1.6.3
