Fair enough. Here I'm using a debian system and the default 
compiler is 2.95. That means that the qt3 they package isn't 
binary compatible with g++-3.2. Or so you told me in the past.

Here, I can't use 2.95 to build lyx because it dies with a 
compiler bug when compiling the .C code generated from many of 
the moc files. This seems to be an Alpha/g++-2.95.4 problem, so 
I thought I'd try a diiferent compiler.
