Yes, I can reproduce this, easily even. The light blue LyX selection
starts "oscillating" in an erratic way, so you don't know what you'll
get (a row? A rectangle? A column? A couple of cells?) when you let go
of the mouse button. This only happens if

1) there are at least two formulas in the table, and
2) Instant Preview is turned on.

(Multicolumn/table complexity seems a red herring.)

This should give a hint as to what causes this. Turning Instant
Preview off (Preferences->Look&Feel->Misc) is a workaround.

If this cannot be properly fixed, we might want to turn off IP within
tables.
