Actually, lyx can't know that it says "alt" on that key.  It is a
reasonable assumption when running on a pc, but remember that
lyx runs on machines where the keyboard has a "meta" key.
And then there are machines with both alt and meta.

Lyx has roots in a unix environment, unix has had the meta key
for a long time.  Now it has moved onto intel pcs too, where
alt is used for meta purposes.

Alternatively, write/engrave "meta" on the alt-key. :-)
