Is \begin{equation} AMS or not?

[It can be both depending on whether AMS is included or not. Making a
choice of including AMS or not on the occurance of \begin{equation} is
impossible.]

Anyway, I am not really interested in discussing this topic for another
week. I fact I am pretty annoyed by it right now and as I know that I could
not resist debating it I'll simply unsubscribe from the list.

So if there is anything _really_ wrong with mathed that urgently needs to
be done before 1.3 is out, make sure to send me a private mail.
