9 looks a reasonable limit when we're appending lastfiles within the menu but if as was suggested we move lastfiles into a submenu we should be able to set it to something much higher like the 50 JMarc suggests although I'd be inclined to say 30 since that'll fit on most screens in one column with no need to rebreak and it'll fit two copies of my thesis :) I don't see why you want remove the limit setting at all -- or make it necessary for users to hack the source if they want something different. Certainly get rid of the option to name which lastfiles file to use (although even this can useful when dealing with multiple LyX versions since they can share a common lastfiles). Allan. (ARRae)
