I want to see as much symbols as possible using a minimum number of clicks
or even better, of keystrokes.

I use the panel if and only if I do not know the symbol's latex name by
heart. So I use the panel to access obscure items which usually are found
in obscure places. But I do not want to open twenty subpanels of twenty
items each when I hunt for such a symbol.  And a special panel for
"commonly used things" obviously does not cut it...
