No, I don't insist on anything.
I'm bouncing back and forth between to camps of people who have opposite
opinions:

1) One group wants full control of display mode in the graphics dialog AND
    preferences dialog; basically what we already have now.

2) The other group wants to split up in prefs the "do/don't display" from the
    display mode into a toggle and choice selection; and only wants a toggle
    "do/don't display" in the graphics dialog.

These two opinions bubbled up when I suggested a rearrangement of the graphics dialog,
while my original rearrangement did not at all touch the display mode setup.

I myself am in favour of group one (1); just keep the display setup as it is.
Have a choice selection button for "Don't display/gs/mono/color" in prefs,
and another choice selection button for "Default/don't display/gs/mono/color" in
graphics. This gives optimal functionality for the global as well as for the
per-graph settings.

Apparently there are people that agree with me. But I'm sure this email will
again set off flames from people of group two.
