No, it was Oersted (the magnetic field strenghth unit and famous Danish physicist / Earth magnetic field satellite mission). A physical unit just like Å. IIRC the reason for including these was to allow people with non-danish/scand keyboards to type physics manuscripts easily (like, how would you do this on a USASCII keyboard?) Typing values + units in text mode is your choice and OK with me, I prefer mathed (is either of these "formally correct"?). But consider adding Oersted/Ångström shortcuts to text mode then. Martin
