This is probably not relevant to your platform, but on mine (Dec Alpha running Tru64 unix) this is what the grep man page has to say about grep/egrep: The commands grep -E and grep -F are equivalent to the obsolescent commands egrep and fgrep, respectively. Regards, Angus
