Perhaps you should upgrade your version of LyX? underbrace is most definitely available on LyX 1.2.x. See the attached screenshot. I'd assume therefore that it exists on the released LyX 1.2... ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/stable/lyx-1.2.0.tar.gz Angus
