Can't comment on these as I did not have a look.

I find this rather annoying, too. Mathed currently exposes bits of the
structure nesting in the status line (not just the innermost font change,
but some other things, too) and I got already used to it so I really don't
like it being overwritten after a couple of seconds...

So maybe we should have a poll whether this feature can go?
