Underlined text never gets a newline. Bug or feature?

Hi,

Underlined (underbarred) text stretches out beyond the right side of
the paper, without ever getting a new line (see attachment).

I see this in 1.2.0 as well as in 1.3.0cvs.

Is this a bug in LyX, or in LaTeX?
Or is this some awkward feature?
