Undoubtedly. I fully admit to almost complete ignorance
concerning this area. It's one of the things that were loose ends.

I'm glad somebody knowledgable is looking at it.

One thing, though I'm sure you've realised it: the frontends/ interface
cannot see anything like a KeySym, (so Qt::x11EventFilter is right out)
simply because that prevents the Windows Qt port.
