I think I will try to implement that inset locking idea today and commit afterwards. I am fairly convinced that a few things will break or at least not work "as usual" (the patch is 6000 lines, but mostly "cosmetical"). So if you use LyX mathed on a regular base (only mathed is concerned) and need to hand in your thesis tomorrow, don't update too fast. Everybody else, of course, is invited to debug that beast ;-}
