Hi,

Pasting the selected filename immediately into the Filename-field
would make the file selection much more user friendly.

For example:

File->Open to pop up the "Select document to open" dialog.
When single-clicking on a filename in the tree (the file's
background lights up in bright yellow), the filename with its
full path should immediately be pasted into the "Filename"-field.
If next another file is single-clicked, then override the Filename
field with this filename, etc.

Same applies to the "Save as" dialog. Here it's even more weird,
since the Filename-field gets the current doc's filename and does
not reflect the highlighted filename in the tree. This is very
confusing: which filename is actually going to be used for saving:
the one highlighted in the tree or the one in the Filename-field?
Don't do that; override the Filename-field when clicking on a file.

For Save-as, this has another advantage that I can select a file
in the tree and then edit its name in the Filename-field.
Example: I select "my_doc.lyx" and next rename this in the
Filename-field to "my_doc2.lyx".
Now such an action is horribly complicated; it needs lots of typing
into the Filename-field :(.

Exactly the same applies to the File selection for the Graphics dialog.

...and probably all other File selection dialogs!

Something else:
Selecting a file in the tree by double-clicking is really a pain.
For some reason the double click doesn't work that easily; well I'm
always struggling to get the double click accepted.
I don't have this double-click-problem with other applications.
Is XForms somehow muddling with the double-click actions, or what?

I'm using XForms 0.88.1 and latest FreeBSD.

Regards,
Rob.
