the first shows the different natbibstyles, which have all the same behaviour when deactivating "use natbib". it's also possible to use the "before" entry when you have natbib style (it's "see" in some labels). to let the inset know what to do with the label I put all information in the option part: before, after, label. for example a line from a lyx file: \citet[<\before>also<\end_before><\after>Page 57ff<\end_after><\natbib>Bry and Afflerbach (1968)]{bry-afflerbach} > What if I just have a regular \cite will it look like "[key]" or not? sure, this is cite1.gif. you see only the keys and all with \cite... > This is the main question we have been wanting clarified -- for the > engineers and such among us who aren't enlightened enough to want > anything other than numbers in the _output_ for citations.
