is a rather large patch that is another step towards GUII.

I mention it now mainly because I would like Lars et al to quickly
scan it and say if the approach is heading towards the right
one.

The aim right now is to create a bare minimum for Qt to function.
I think it's feasible (with some minor modifications) to get a working
Qt frontend now.

I can see now that a lot of the GUII really has been done already,
it just didn't quite look like that.

Is the abstract class method a reasonable approach ? Am I going
totally wrong ?

Some of FontLoader needs to become GUII again.

How should the actual work area get instantiated ?

I'm not really interested right now in "method XXX should be in XXX",
refinements can come later. I'd just like to know if I'm on the right
track so I can drop it if not.
