The browser _never_ closes.  "Fill in the gaps" means add whatever
other character you need to <tab> again and have some more of the word
filled in.

Seems Jürgen and I had similar experiences.  I hadn't tried the
minibuffer history before Angus' changes so I can't comment on any
difference to previous behaviour.
