You're entitled to your point of view ;-)

This is a philosophical question really. I remember we have been there,
done that on this list.

Apply  = do what you have chosen to do. Keep the pop-up available.
OK     = do what you have chosen to do. Close the pop-up.
Cancel = don't do what you chose. Close the pop-up.

It is that way in all pop-ups of this kind. Try it!

I would grant it might be desirable to have the font/style buttons self-apply
immediately, like the "decorations" sub-panel of the math panel, or the
symbols sub-panels. Then only "Cancel" is needed, and should rightly be
named "Close". I am not clever enough to do that unfortunately :-(
