I don't wanted to say, that you are not right, but
the Textstyle $abc$ and the Displaystyle $$abc$$ have
the same size for the "baseline". It's another question
in what style super/subscripts, fractions, ... are set.
Therefore the mathSTYLES have a corresponding fontSIZE.
And for the users, who are not so familiar with latex,
it's better to say size than style.

anyway, it's not worth it to have a longer thread about
this stuff.
