iso-8859-2 spellcheck

I can not spellcheck words with iso-8859-2 fonts. "use input encoding"
button does not help. I have tried several versions of ispell, aspell,
iczech. It either does not take latin 2 characters (ispell) or (ispell
with "input encoding", aspell) sleeps with after message of "the 
ispell-process has died ...".

LyX version 1.1.6fix3; ispell, aspell, iczech of a lot of versions;
Linux on PC, Debian, current testing version.
