Hello,
I have LyX 1.1.6fix3 (lyx-1.1.6-11mdk) and am
experiencing some strange problems when starting up.
The LyX splash screen will appear with the main window
behind (with no documents open) and will have over 40%
CPU time, but sit and do nothing when:-
1) You click "NO" to creating a user preferences directory
2) You start the program after an initial use (IE have
a .lyx directory - it works if you delete the directory!)
I am also noticing an error pop-up appearing when I
click Open, saying something like it doesn't have
permission to read the directory. (I would tell you
exactly what it means, but it has now COMPLETELY
stopped loading up even after performing above .lyx
deletion trick). I think this may be connected.
Also, it freezes when creating dvi (IE it reports
"running 1" or the like in the status bar.)
It completely stopped working after installing the
lyxport package, even with the above trick. I tried
uninstalling lyx and reinstalling but it still does not
work. (I thought the lyxport install could have damaged
something)
I have the following system:-
lyx-1.1.6-11mdk.i586
kernel-2.4.3-20mdk.i586tetex-1.0.7-33mdk.i586
tetex-dvips-1.0.7-33mdk.i586
tetex-latex-1.0.7-33mdk.i586
giftrans-1.12.2-10mdk.i586
I installed lyxport-0.3.1 via tar.gz/make install
Anyone got any ideas? Its a bit vital this gets working
as my dissertation is on it!!! Luckily I ported it to
ps,tex and pdf before it broke.
I think it could simply be a permissions problem. I'd
fix it if I could find where in the code the functions
were!
